An ONX Thanksgiving

Turkey? Check. Stuffing? Check. Gravy? Check. Cranberries? Check. Wine? Don’t worry we have your food and wine pairings covered.

Our perfect Thanksgiving pairing starts with our Indie Rosé. We all know that rosé is no longer just a fun summertime drink. In fact, it’s best pairing is a Thanksgiving turkey.

Indie Rosé has aromas of freshly split orange peel and sweet lemon mingled with sun-ripened raspberries; characteristics that are often found on a Thanksgiving table. In fact, the nose resembles this fennel and citrus Thanksgiving turkey recipe.

The palate of Indie plays well with a turkey. The pops of pomegranate and lime carry a zippy acidity into a clean and satisfying finish. The acidity of our rosé complements characteristics of a turkey, such as the fattiness.

You can’t go wrong with pairing a turkey with a wine that showcases notes of blood orange, nectarine and passion fruit.

When you’re ready (if that’s possible after Indie) to go into a red, we recommend having Mad Crush on your table. This is generally one of our lighter reds. This Grenache, Tempranillo and Mourvèdre can pair with any side dish on your table. Sweet potatoes, stuffing, green beans, the whole nine yards.

Mad Crush offers notes of lingering red fruit filled with bright acidity and good density. This wine is your gravy with food (pun intended).  If we can suggest opening another bottle the day after with a Thanksgiving sandwich, then you will be in food and wine pairing heaven.

Lastly, the wine that does with the pie: Post Script. This is our hidden gem at ONX. The Wine Gods shined through with this one. We were able to create a white port that pairs with pretty much any dessert.

Whether your table has pumpkin, pecan or apple pie, the rounded, indulgent notes of caramel and crème brûlée will pair beautifully and seamlessly. The pleasant acidity and mid palate of the wine carry those notes through to a lengthy finish filled with fresh honeycomb and ground coffee beans.

And now you have your perfect ONX Wines Thanksgiving. From all of us at the winery, Happy Thanksgiving!
